Hard work pays off.

There’s no arguing the truth of this, especially when it comes to diet and exercise.

But there will come a time when your results come to screeching halt, despite the hard work you continue to put in.

Despite doing all the right things, the scale doesn’t budge. You can’t add any more reps to your workouts. You don’t see any changes in the mirror.

It feels like everything stops working.  This is what we call hitting a plateau.

It happens when your body adapts.

Yes, it’s normal. But that doesn’t make it any less frustrating.

I want to show you that hitting a weight loss plateau doesn’t mean it’s the end of the road. In fact, it’s only the beginning.

Here are five ways to get back on track and keep moving towards your goals… even when you feel like nothing is working.

#1. Invest In Yourself

Losing weight requires you to invest in yourself.

This might mean…

Join a gym, buy the right foods, eat a healthy diet, get enough sleep, and work with a knowledgeable coach.

Your actions are a mirror. They tell you if you’re serious about investing in yourself and your goals.

We all know weight loss isn’t easy.

But it’s a lot easier when you invest in yourself because you put yourself in the best position to succeed.

Plus, you’re worth it and so are your results.

#2. Block Out Time

Time is one of the biggest barriers preventing people from reaching their goals.

Trying to find time to workout is impossible. You need to MAKE time workout. There’s a difference.

Trying to find time is acting in a reactive state. It’s what people do when they don’t have clear goals.

When you make the time, you prioritize things that move you closer to your goals.

You have time to drop the kids off at school, to work, to cook dinner, to hang out with friends, etc.

Now, I’m not saying to stop doing any of those… all we’re saying is look for “other” things you’re doing that aren’t extremely important.

Are you able to cut out an hour off of social media so you can lose the 15 pounds you’ve been thinking about for years?

Can you invest in a meal delivery service to save you hours of cooking your food?

Either way, make sure you block off time for what is essential.

#3. Get Your Nutrition On Point

You’re making time to for your workouts, but your body isn’t changing as much as you’d like… what gives?

Nutrition. Eating a balanced diet is at least half the battle when it comes to weight loss.

Fitness alone can only take you so far. Nutrition is critical for transformations.

This might be tough at first, but following a plan that lets you keep your sanity and enjoy your life is crucial. Otherwise, you’ll fall back into old habits.

It doesn’t take long before you start to see changes on the scale and in the mirror.

#4. Take It One Step At A Time

Everyone wants to see results fast.

Although having a “go get it” attitude is admirable, it’s not what makes the best transformation.

Instead, it’s a surefire way to burn yourself out within the first few weeks.

Weight loss is a marathon, not a sprint. The smartest thing you can do is pace yourself.

Slowly build your habits as the weeks go on. It makes it so much easier to stick with it for the long haul.

Not only will you see better results but it makes the process more fun.

#5. Keep The Cycle Going

You have to keep up moving forward.

Some days you feel great. Others you feel like you’ve been hit with a freight train.

When you create habits, you can rely on those habits to keep you on track. You don’t need to fight and claw through everything.

You will have the habit of going to the gym Wednesday morning before work… of eating healthy dinners with your family… of going for a bike ride every Saturday with your friends.

… even when you don’t feel like doing it.

The longer you can keep your cycle going the better. This is when real results start to show.

When you can turn the tips into habits, that’s when you know you’ve won.
