From the age of 5, I started playing sports and it kept me active , healthy , and in shape; however, after losing someone very close to me I went down a downward spiral emotionally and physically. I stopped caring what I ate, what I looked like, and about my overall health. It took one day and a picture later to realize I did not want to live my life unhealthy, overweight, and overall miserable. I decided it was time to join a gym and with doing so I met someone who pushes me to reach my goals. My trainer, Moses. He taught me about nutrition and what I should eat, portion control, and frequency. I never realized that by eating the right things , my body would feel so much better! In addition, he has taught me to build lean muscle by proper technique. He has taught me so many routines and many times I have wanted to quit , but he gives me my motivation that keeps me going. I feel like an entirely different person and enjoy helping others now because I was once where they were. I am so grateful to have met him and am grateful of the things he has taught me. I can't wait to see what 2016 holds for me!
My names is J.R. and here is my story. At the end of January 2014 I decided to finally do something about my weight and join a gym. I knew if that if I was going accomplish this goal I would need a trainer, and I'm fairly certain I got the best there is with Moses Israel. Thanks to training with Moses I've lost over thirty pounds and putting on lean muscle mass. Not only has he taught me about health and fitness, but to be more confident and to believe in myself. I still remember when Moses handed me a fifty pound dumbbell to curl. He looked me in the eye, and told me " I believe in you". To my own surprise I was able to curl it and finish the set. Even the longest journeys start with a single step, are you ready to take yours? Just be ready to super set.

I have been chubby since 2nd grade and have NEVER really known what it's like to be fit or "skinny". I AM lazy, I have a 9 year old, I'm married and work full time. Always a million excuses for why I couldn't lose the weight. Coming up on my 30th birthday a cousin asked me to join her Zumba class, and I went originally just to spend more time with her and not really taking it seriously. I ended up enjoying it and went for an hour twice a week. I lost 20 pounds without even changing my diet in the first 6 months! Well she got married and moved so I went with the other ladies from the Zumba class to join Golds Gym that offered the classes. I became addicted to working out and just wanting to be healthier; never had a specific number I wanted to reach just wanted to be healthy and have more energy and feel better about myself.
First step was realizing that I'm important too and that you make time in your life for the things that matter to you so no more excuses! Yes your spouse, children and family are important, but I've realized through this journey that you have to take care of yourself fist in order to be the best you can for them! A happy, healthier you will change the way you do and see things for the better. I originally found the gym to be a little intimidating so I decided I used my one free training session that you get when you start at the gym. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. They sold me on hiring a trainer and I was skeptical, but found that I really needed that to keep me obligated "that sense of not wanting to waste my money" but I ended up loving it and looking forward to work outs! Crazy I know but it's true!
I so lucked out getting Moses Israel as my personal trainer! He taught me that I don't need to spend 3 hours in the gym to get results, that a 30 minute work out can produce the same results once you are shown how to do it. He is there to push you, encourage you and remind you that this is life, and that just cause I may struggle sometimes doesn't mean you give up. He pushes me and reminds me that we are human and will have set backs, but to just keep going cause every little thing you do is still better than sitting on the couch at home! I am continuing my long hard journey towards being a happy healthier me, and maintaining it with the help of my awesome trainer! I've lost a total of 60 pounds! I didn't put it on over and night and it'll take a while to get where I want to be but I am worth it. It's taken me a long time to reach this point, but I am happier than words can express.
